Look for the H plate

Licensed taxis and buses in Dominica all carry an H on their licence plate. If there's no H, it's a private car — not a registered driver.

Roads can be demanding

Mountain roads, sharp turns, and long travel times are part of the island. A driver who knows the roads well is often worth it.

Book ahead when you can

Especially for airport transfers, long days and peak season — good drivers get booked quickly.
