Intro
Segment 2 connects the Soufrière area to Bellevue Chopin as a long point-to-point day on the Waitukubuli National Trail. It’s beautiful, but not “easy”: expect steep climbs, muddy sections, and moments where the trail can feel unclear. It’s best suited to confident hikers with a GPS track as backup.
Quick facts
- Difficulty: 7/10
- Duration: About 5 hours (often longer if muddy or if you lose the line)
What you’ll do
- Start near Soufrière and begin with a solid climb to the first high points.
- Follow the route across greener hills and farm edges with big views.
- Descend, then climb again back to a similar altitude mid-way.
- Push through wetter rainforest sections where the path can get messy.
- Finish in Bellevue Chopin and exit to the village area for resupply if needed.
Key tips
- Bring an offline GPS track. The trail is not always obvious, especially near junctions.
- Expect mud, insects, overgrowth, and obstacles (fallen trees, debris).
- There may be sections affected by landslides. Move carefully and don’t rush.
- Carry enough water. Do not assume you’ll find reliable refill points.
- Start early. If you lose time and daylight, turn back or exit to the nearest road safely.
We haven’t explored the full Waitukubuli National Trail yet. A full end-to-end outing is planned during 2026 so we can update our on-the-ground notes (conditions, access, real timings). If you want to prepare an expedition for one segment or multiple segments, please fill out our form and we’ll connect you with guides based on the sections you want to do.
