Intro
At the extreme south of the island, Scott’s Head sits on a thin peninsula where the Atlantic meets the Caribbean. The shoreline is mostly rocky, but the Caribbean side is one of Dominica’s best snorkeling spots. Clear water, coral, and tropical fish make it a top stop if you’re comfortable in the sea.
What you’ll do
- Choose the Caribbean side for snorkeling in calmer-looking water.
- Enter carefully from rockier areas and take your time finding the best visibility.
- Explore the reef zones close to the point (only if conditions feel safe).
- Optional adventure: round the tip to reach a small hidden beach and explore sea caves.
- Take photos of the “two seas” viewpoint from the peninsula.
Key tips
- Currents can change fast near the point. Do not push past your comfort level.
- Watch for stonefish among rocks. Wear water shoes and step carefully.
- Avoid rough seas, strong wind, or big swell days.
- Bring a mask/snorkel and keep your phone in a dry bag if you carry it.
- If the water looks cloudy or choppy, switch to a simple viewpoint visit instead of snorkeling.
