Intro
At the extreme north of the island, Bwa Nef Falls is a hidden waterfall tucked in a narrow valley. The trail is not waymarked, but it’s readable once you’re on it. At the falls, dark rock and a small canyon create a dramatic pool setting.
Quick facts
- Difficulty: 3/10
- Duration: 1 hour
- Cost: About EC$10 per person if the caretaker is there (private land)
What you’ll do
- Start from the roadside trail entrance and follow the path into the valley.
- Walk through wild greenery on a readable but unmarked trail.
- Arrive at the falls and explore the canyon-like pool area.
- Step into the basin and look back for the “natural doorway” view.
- Swim if conditions look safe.
Key tips
- Bring good shoes (water shoes or grippy shoes). Rocks can be slick.
- Fees can depend on whether a caretaker is present. Carry small cash.
- Avoid right after heavy rain if the valley feels slippery or the water is high.
- Keep it low-impact: pack out everything and avoid damaging plants or rocks.
