Essentials
- Hiking shoes with grippy soles — every trail has wet rock.
- Quick-dry clothing — cotton stays soaked.
- Lightweight rain jacket — showers are routine.
- Reef-safe sunscreen — required by law for marine areas.
- Insect repellent with DEET or picaridin for forest evenings.
- Refillable water bottle — tap water is safe in towns.
- Headlamp — useful at trailheads and at lodges with limited lighting.
For hikes
- Daypack 20–25 L with rain cover
- Trekking poles for steep stretches like Boiling Lake
- Wet-bag for camera in waterfalls
- Energy bars (limited shops on trails)
For the water
- Mask and snorkel (rentals are easy but yours fits better)
- Quick-dry towel
