Intro
Segment 6 links Castle Bruce to Hatton Garden and crosses parts of the Kalinago Territory. It mixes coastal road sections with forest trail sections, plus wide Atlantic views on clear days. Expect wet ground and a few places where it’s easy to miss the turn back into the bush.
Quick facts
- Difficulty: 6/10
- Duration: About 6–8 hours (varies with conditions and navigation)
- Cost: Unknown
What you’ll do
- Start in Castle Bruce and follow the route as it alternates between road and forest.
- Watch carefully for the signed right-turns where the trail leaves the road (easy to miss).
- Hike through lush rainforest sections and pass through Kalinago communities.
- Pass by key cultural points, including Kalinago Barana Autê (on/near the route).
- Finish the segment at Hatton Garden and exit to the road for pickup/transport.
Key tips
- Bring an offline GPS track. Several hikers report missing turns where the trail leaves the road.
- Expect wet, muddy footing and overgrowth in sections, especially after rain.
- Start early to keep daylight buffer if navigation slows you down.
- Treat this as a cultural corridor: be respectful in villages and support local businesses when you can.
We haven’t explored the full Waitukubuli National Trail yet. A full end-to-end outing is planned during 2026 so we can update our on-the-ground notes (conditions, access, real timings). If you want to prepare an expedition for one segment or multiple segments, please fill out our form and we’ll connect you with guides based on the sections you want to do.
