Intro
Segment 10 is one of the easier parts of the Waitukubuli National Trail. It links Colihaut Heights to Syndicate using a mix of farm access roads and dirt tracks, with wide views over the west coast and inland toward Morne Diablotin. It’s also a strong parrot-spotting area, especially early in the day (often the Jaco).
Quick facts
- Difficulty: 3/10
- Duration: 4 hours (estimates vary)
- Cost: Trail Pass required for non-residents (confirm current pricing)
What you’ll do
- Start above Colihaut and follow the WNT line along farm roads and tracks.
- Stop at open sections for west coast viewpoints.
- Scan the treetops for parrots as you approach the Syndicate area.
- Finish near Syndicate and connect easily with the Syndicate Nature Trail if you want an extra short loop.
Key tips
- Go early or late for the best chance to see parrots.
- Bring binoculars if you have them (nice-to-have, not required).
- Expect changing conditions: rain can make surfaces slick and reduce visibility.
- Plan transport at both ends if you’re doing it point-to-point.
We haven’t explored the full Waitukubuli National Trail yet. A full end-to-end outing is planned during 2026 so we can update our on-the-ground notes (conditions, access, real timings). If you want to prepare an expedition for one segment or multiple segments, please fill out our form and we’ll connect you with guides based on the sections you want to do.
