Champagne Reef owes its name to what happens under the surface. Geothermal vents on the seabed release streams of warm gas that rise around you as you swim, and the water sitting above them runs noticeably warmer than the sea beside it. It's one of the reasons divers and snorkellers put Dominica on their list in the first place.
Donny's Watersports operates directly on the beach, a few steps from the water. Going out with a local guide changes what you actually see. Donny knows where the vents run strongest, where the marine life sits along the drop-off, and how to read the conditions on any given morning. Groups stay small, which means you're not following a crowd and you can ask questions as you go.
Suitable for first-time snorkellers, families, and cruise passengers with limited time ashore. All equipment is included, and there's a bar on the beach if you want to stay a while afterwards.
